Oh, Those Crazy Antibiotics

I took Isaac in to see his pediatrician this morning because of the whole ER trip early Saturday morning and his ear infection turning into a double. She came in and was so sympathetic about what's been going on. She took a look in his ears and agreed, the infection had gotten worse. She listened to his lungs and said that they sound clear so the cough should be clearing up soon. I just need to keep the AC running, the humidifier on (or a steamy bathroom for him), and cold fluids to drink. He's not really drinking much so Popsicles are our next option.

Apparently Isaac was already on the highest tier of antibiotics for his ear infection, and if that hadn't worked in the past 7 days, the doctor wasn't sure that putting him on something else would take care of the problem. So, the next option was an antibiotic injection. It's just a concentrated antibiotic that should clear up the infection within 1-3 doses (I'm hoping for just one). He got the first one this morning which will last 24 hours. We go back tomorrow morning for her to check his ears and if they don't look any better, he'll have to get another dose. Poor kid, he's so small that they have to split the shot into two, so he gets it in both legs. Luckily they sent in two nurses and did both at the same time which is better... I guess. You'd have to check with Isaac to see if that assumption is right. Poor thing.

His energy was pretty good today. His appetite is still not there, and again, still not drinking much. On the flip side of that, he's a sleeping champ! Two solid naps, both longer than his usual. Hopefully he'll go to bed without a problem and sleep all the way through until morning. He woke up twice last night, but was able to go back down without a fight.
