Camping Out

The other day, Isaac woke up from his nap but I was wiped out. I had a lot on my plate that day and was spread as thin as I could imagine. I'd gotten most of my stuff done but was completely spent when he got up. He wanted to play but I had no energy. Don't get me wrong, usually I'm all for playing trains, music band or hallway soccer but that day I had to tell him that he needed to choose something to do and I'd be there to watch but "I was really tired and not feeling great."

My sweet, sensitive little guy suggested that we "have a camp out." I wasn't sure what he meant but he told me that when he's tired at Mimi and Poppi's house, they have camp outs. They put out all the blankets and pillows and lay down to rest. I said sure, why not!

He went to his room and grabbed his pillow and comforter, I folded it up and spread it out, topping it with the other blankets that we had in the living room. He went back and got my pillow for me and put it down and told me to lay down. He pulled the blankets up over us and "tucked me in" telling me to take a nap. He asked if he could watch a show and after all that, how could I say no?? I turned on one of his favorite shows and while he watched, I snoozed. I got a 20 minute nap before Ava woke up... it was just what I needed.

Now, apparently it's an everyday thing. He's asked to camp out every day after his nap this week. How can I argue? It's a block of time that we get to snuggle and I get to rest. A built-in nap time that he loves? It's on. Well, gotta run... time for another camp out!

ZZZzzzzzz.....
