The Color Game

I try to come up with new games and activities for Isaac to do during the day. Especially now that it's winter and cold outside so we can't always go blow off steam like most little boys need to do.

Isaac is getting really good at identifying letters and colors so I wanted to encourage him in word identification. I made a bunch of cards with colors and we played a (sort of) Simon Says game. He had to find a color that I said and do a certain thing when he found it. Example: jump over blue, balance on one foot on pink, find red THEN orange (get a little sequencing in there)... etc.

He LOVES this game! After he finds the color, I have him spell it so he continues to learn his letters and how they look and go together. Once we play this game for a while, I'll make new cards with the colors all written in black so he'll have to learn to identify them by the word rather than the color. It might be over his head but we might as well get working on it!

Thanks! I figure I can adapt the basic idea of the game for other topics/subjects like shapes, patterns, simple math, etc.

He's such an active (kinesthetic) learner that I want to use that to his/my advantage.
