We headed South for Christmas this year. Not too far south but as far as Macks Creek, MO (pop. 272). Luke's grandparents and Isaac great-grandparents live there so we stayed for the holiday weekend. It's always a nice get-away going down there. It's quiet, relaxing and Isaac loves it in the country.
He and his great-grandma were fast friends. We were all a little worried that he wouldn't remember being there and would take some time to warm up. To our relief, he walked in and made himself right at home within seconds of stepping foot in the house. He had loads of toys waiting for him, best of which was a happy meal toy that played music that he and Grandma bonded over...
There were presents everywhere and he didn't get into them. We'd trained him at home that presents were not to open until Christmas day. He could look, but not touch. He was more excited about taking people their presents than finding his own. It was so sweet. He's so generous.
Poppy took him outside to explore, see the chickens, throw rocks in the frozen pond and ring the dinner bell... which he quickly became obsessed with!
Isaac's Papa got up each morning, got ready for the day and did his exercises. Well, Isaac is a joiner so he got in on the deal with the upright push ups. It was so cute!
Then Grandma surprised us with huge binders full of genealogy information that she's accumulated over many many years. She's worked so hard on this information and we feel so blessed to have this information about Luke's family. We have a family picture that she put together of Isaac's tree going back 8 generations. Incredible.
Last but not least... Luke's Superman underwear... a little stocking stuffer from his loving wife! Ha! It makes me laugh.
