Snow(y) Day

We got our 4(ish) inches of predicted snow Monday night. Luke was able to make it to work while pretty much every school district called off for the snow. Being a stay-at-home mom with a toddler... we don't get snow days. We get snowY days.

Isaac has only gotten to play in the snow a couple of times so I figured that this morning would be a good time to go out and run around in it. So I started layering him up... shirt and slick pants, long socks, shoes, hoodie, coat, gloves, hat and hood up over the hat. He seemed nice and toasty and unable to move. Perfect!

So, we went on out. It was pretty windy and he absolutely, positively HATES the wind with a passion. He always has. Plus, there was snow blowing around so you're not only being hit in the face with invisible air, but tiny icy flakes pelting you. Needless to say, he walked around in it for a couple of minutes, bent over and picked some up, we walked around the culdisac, then he decided it was time to go back inside.

The 15 minutes (being generous) that we spent outside was not even worth the 40 minutes I spent looking all over the house for a matching pair of gloves plus a hat. Why these things can't just stay in one place, I don't know. I had 3 gloves, all of which were different. I didn't care if they matched his coat, I just wanted a pair! Sheesh!

Anyway, after our short little excursion outside, we came back in, took off all our snow covered gear and warmed up with some hot chocolate. Isaac hadn't ever had it before so he was new to the whole experience. I have a feeling that with the promise of hot chocolate afterwards, he'll be venturing out in the snow more often. He was a fan.
