Flower Growth Journal

I've been working on growing plants in the house. There are several reasons for this. My thumb is brown. I kill everything and the only way to fix this is practice. So, we started small - hastas, English Ivy and some sort of weird cactus but not cactus plant that is supposed to be impossible to kill. 2ish months later... they're all alive!

Lemon Tree Sprouts
Then we ventured into planting our own lemon tree(s). After having round one fail miserably, I replanted some new seeds (6-7). I was starting to think those were a fail too until yesterday I found 2 little seeding sprouting up through the dirt and rocks! So exciting!

Then came the avocado pit. It's even cracking open and showing no signs of mold... yet. That one still has a couple more weeks before it's supposed to show any sprouting, but we're waiting patiently.

The same day that we started the avocado pit, I planted a garlic clove. These are supposed to be idiot proof. It's sprouting but still has some time before it'll have leaves or anything. Once the plant part dies, the clove in the dirt is supposed to be ready for harvest. We'll see how that goes.

A friend of ours gave Isaac some seeds for sunflowers and poppies. The sunflowers are in the gray pots and poppies are in the white. She said the poppies are fast when it comes to showing signs of life so Isaac helped me plant those this morning. With the promise of fast growth and change, I put together a journal for Isaac to write down the changes he sees day to day. I'll help him with spelling and that sort of thing, but he'll have to tell me what he sees and also draw it himself. Today's drawing was dirt - a good and easy intro and he seems excited about the whole project.
