Life's Little Lessons

Isaac is a learning machine. When they say "kids are like sponges" they mean it. This child, in the last couple of weeks, has done a lot of living and learning. Here are just a few of the highlights (some have pictures, some don't. You'll be ok.)

1. Toy training. You put away one toy before getting out the next.

We're still working on this one, but he's at least starting to do it on his own or with a little prompt.

2. Patience.

Luke taught Isaac that when he's excited about something and not being patient, he needs to go sit on the couch (or somewhere), fold his hands in his lap and "be patient." This works!!! All I have to say is "Isaac, show me your patience" and he does it! It's great and has helped to avoid a few tantrums that are oh-so enjoyable.

3. "Knuckle Me"

Sure, every kid knows to high-five. Whooptie do. My kid will "fist bump," "knuckle me," "pound it" or whatever else it can be called. It's awesome.

4. Picking out clothes.

Another "sense offreedom" that we're introducing is giving Isaac the choice of his own clothing. He's already shown in previous occasions that he has an excellent sense of fashion when it comes to women's shoes. Well, now he's proving that he can do the same but for himself... well, maybe a little more training will be needed:

Green, fleece pants aren't always a good decision in the middle of a St. Louis summer.

5. Boys Love Remotes

If you want the remote control, wait for Daddy to fall asleep. Then it's aaaaallll yours.

6. Dip makes any meal more fun.

Yes, that's right! Put some dip with a meal and Isaac'll eat it. Well, and if he doesn't, you know your kid will have a great time in the bathtub!

7. Last but not least... Donuts and Milk are an Epic Combo!

Isaac doesn't get junk food very often but when he does, he scarfs it. I got him a blueberry donut at the grocery store as a treat and he could barely wait to get home to eat it. Well, and of course he couldn't go without stealing my milk!

So that covers most of the highlights of the past couple of weeks of what he's learned. The list is still growing and we'll try to keep up with the updates. Stay classy!
