Developing That Hand-Mouth Coordination

Isaac was just sitting in his swing today while I caught up on some emails and things. He seemed perfectly content but I still wanted him to DO something and be delevoping his skills. Up until this point, he never really grasped (no pun intended) the idea of grabbing an object. So, I went to the fridge and got a teether and gave it to him.  I put it sort of by his palm and his hand closed on it. I let go and he held on, kind of swinging it around. Then the next thing I knew... there it was, in his mouth. He was just looking at me while sucking on it, biting down and licking it. He was just going to town on it. He dropped it a couple times so I just helped him out and gave it back but each time I put it in his hand, it went straight to his mouth.

Now, as exciting as this is for a mom to see that her little baby is developing, it's also nerve wracking seeing as now he's realizing that everything can be put in his mouth and there really is no better way for him to explore his world than through his mouth... so here come the colds and other various sicknesses.

Either way, he's stinkin' cute when he does it:
