The Sinak Family Arboretum

Ok, so let's be honest... Ernie lemon tree didn't work. After two weeks, I dug up one of the seeds and it was dried out and hollow. There was a good chance that it wasn't going to work in the first place so I had prepped Isaac for such an occurrence  However, I read that organic lemons work better for seed planting so I bought a couple. I wasn't messing around anymore. I pulled every seed out of those suckers and planted a whole handful. So hopefully now we'll get Ernie, Bert and a whole mess of other Sesame Street characters. I also put some pebbles and stones on the surface of the dirt to help the water spread out when we water it so it doesn't hit the soil harshly and move it around. The problem with this is that it's more tempting to little hands... ah well. Now, we have to wait another 2 weeks to see if these will work for us.

While we're on a sort of planting our own stuff roll, I grabbed some avocados to try. I had Isaac help me get the pit out, clean it off and stuck it with a few toothpicks. I balanced it in a bowl and he poured in the water. We'll see if we can get this little guy to sprout in about a month. Hopefully, we have luck in growing an avocado plant and not a bowl of penicillin - to which I am allergic... violently. Ah, either way, we're trying and he's learning. Trial and error right?
