Juggling

We've been busy. I'm trying to figure out the best way to juggle two kids (one of which is a newborn, the other is a constantly moving toddler), keeping up with the housework (laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning) as well as my job. I'm doing alright with it, I just haven't figured out how to get personal time yet (the reason the blog doesn't get updated and why a shower during the day is a treat) ... did I brush my teeth today? Ah well...

Ava is 5 1/2 weeks old now and getting big, pushing 8 pounds now and putting on some chub. She's been a bit fussier this week, but I think it's because she has a cold. Her nose is really stuffy and she had a little cough for a couple days. The cough is gone, but the nose is still stuffed. Unfortunately, I have the same thing. I'm less stuffy but everything has settled in my chest so... that's fun. Yay.

Getting sick while trying to care for a newborn is rough. You can't get the rest you need plus she's taking everything (vitamins, fluids) from me from nursing. Luckily she's sleeping 4-5 hours at night so we only have to get up with her once, usually around 2am. The next perk should be her starting to smile next week. That usually kicks in around 6 weeks. Plus, I go back for my 6-week appointment to hopefully get the go ahead to start working out again.

Isaac is doing fine as well. He's still an early riser (getting up by 5:15 each morning). We got a new alarm clock for him that is a stoplight. We set it for the earliest time we'd want him to get up and when it reaches that time (ex. 6am) the light turns from red to green so he can SEE that it's time to get up. I think it's going to take a few days of training, but he'll get it. He's a smart cookie.
