Big Brother is Listening

There is no doubt in my mind that Isaac will be a good big brother. Of course we're going to go through the typical jealousy issues, territorial rituals and all that good stuff... but overall, he's going to be loving, caring and sweet.

Just the other day, Isaac was getting ready for his nap when he asked to climb up on my lap. With what's left of my lap quickly disappearing, I try to let him take advantage of it when he wants. So, he climbed up. The next thing I knew, he was lifting up my shirt over my belly, had the draw-strings to my pants in his ears like a stethoscope and was leaning down with his face to my bellybutton. I asked him what he was doing and was quickly cut off with a "Shhhhh!" I let it go for a second and asked again. He looked up at me with one of those"Duh Mom!" looks and said "Hear Ava."

He was trying to hear Ava with the draw-strings! It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. He stayed there, listening. I finally told him it was time for a nap so he reluctantly gave my drawstrings back, patted my belly and said bye to Ava. He hopped down and trotted off to his room for his nap.

He's done this a couple times since and even got upset with me when I was wearing real pants that didn't have draw-strings. He made me change. He's quite forceful when he wants to be :)
